Nothing is Black or White

Nothing is purely black or white. Even black, as we perceive it, isn’t truly black—otherwise, we wouldn’t see it at all. And white? It’s never purely white, influenced by shadows and nuances. The symbol of yin and yang starts to make more sense, doesn’t it?

Our mind often craves simplicity, trying to categorize everything as this or that. Worse, we often believe we can only be one thing or the other. But this type of thinking binds us to a life of misery because the human psyche is anything but black and white.

The psyche is vibrant, with millions of hues, tapping into different aspects based on where we are physically, emotionally, and internally.

The Frustration of Identity

It doesn’t make it less frustrating to not fully know who you are. I know this feeling—trust me. I’ve spent my life digging into who I am, and just when I feel I’ve found something solid, another life phase comes, and I start shifting again. If you’re feeling lost, unsure if a solid sense of identity even exists, I have good news.

You do have a unique essence, one different from mine or anyone else’s. You are not just an amalgamation of whims and moods that come and go. You have a purpose, and your mission is to continually learn about what that is—what your true essence is.

What If You’re Both?

Traditionally, we’re taught to eliminate what we aren’t to discover who we are. But what if we exist on a spectrum? Is it possible to be both things? The answer is simple: of course, it is. In fact, it’s often inevitable.

Life happens in a spectrum of polarity. Even archetypes are subject to this. The Wise King can easily become the Cold Tyrant without self-awareness. The Innocent, when pushed to its brink, transforms into a Reckless Monster. Just look at the stories of some superhero villains.

We see this in children. They embody polarities naturally—torturing a fly one moment, innocently fascinated by the world, and being cute even while throwing a tantrum. They seamlessly exist in these dualities because they embrace both energies without judgment.

We, too, are never just this or that—we are always both.

Carl Jung Knew It

Carl Jung said, "No tree can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell." There’s a natural balance, like a pendulum. The force that swings us in one direction propels us equally to the other. This isn’t something that occurs over months or years—it can happen fifty times in a day, moving at the speed of light, just like the nature of our psyche that embodies a Mercurian energy. (Just think of Mercury with his wings, scattered all over the place.)

If Persephone can be both the spring nymph and the Queen of the dead, you too are allowed to be both lethargic and ambitious.

Contradiction in Your Soul Map

When clients come to me seeking answers through their natal chart, I often see this duality beautifully illustrated in their cosmic blueprint.
